Social Security Disability and working under the table

Here's an article the point of which makes perfect sense: don't work under the table. Because if you do and later have to apply for social security disability, you may find that your benefit amount isn't as high as it might have been...or that you are simply not covered for social security disability.My own spouse is a claim reps at an SSA field office and, of course, they see this all the time.
